Ozempic® (semaglutide) is an injectable prescription medicine used for:

  • Improving blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes when combined with diet and exercise.
  • Reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke, or death) in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease.

Important Safety Information for Ozempic®

Do Not Use Ozempic® If:

  • You or your family have ever had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
  • You are allergic to semaglutide or any other ingredients in Ozempic®.

Inform Your Healthcare Provider If You:

  • Have a history of pancreatitis or kidney issues.
  • Have a history of diabetic retinopathy.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant or breastfeed. You should stop using Ozempic® at least 2 months before becoming pregnant.

    • Fast heartbeat or feeling jittery
    • Slurred speech or confusion
  • Kidney problems: In those with existing kidney issues, dehydration caused by nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea may worsen kidney function. It’s important to stay hydrated.
  • Serious allergic reactions: Seek medical help immediately if you experience symptoms such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing or swallowing, severe rash, dizziness, or a rapid heartbeat.
  • Gallbladder problems: Some people have reported gallbladder issues, such as pain in the upper stomach, fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), or clay-colored stools.
